AoR's 3rd Annual event, Blue Ridge Communication's 6th annual event. A local Valentine's Day Card Campaign to Benefit Soldiers, Vets and Elderly.

U.S. soldiers serving abroad, veterans and residents of local nursing homes will receive handmade and personally signed Valentine's Day cards this year, thanks to those who participate in Blue Ridge Communications’ 5th Annual “Touch a Heart” Valentine campaign. Due to your thoughtfulness, over 3,000 cards were delivered last year. Our goal for 2019 is 3,500.

This initiative is designed to deliver personal, handmade cards to those who might not otherwise receive one. These cards will serve as powerful messages of joy and hope to our men and women serving around the world, our veterans and the elderly as they are so appreciative of the outpouring of kindness.

"It's a way to make sure that as many people as possible get remembered on that day," said Cindy Mellinger, Marketing and Community Relations Coordinator for Blue Ridge. And it teaches children the importance of giving to someone, especially something they made themselves."

Children may trace their hands on the card, and then decorate it any way they wish, adding their name and a personal message. However, ALL AGES are welcome to make a card. Please feel free to create your own card or pick up a Valentine coloring page from the Blue Ridge Communications lobby.

We ask that you include a separate piece of paper with the name, address, phone number and age of the person (forms will also be available in the BRC lobby). ALL entries will be eligible for drawings for fun prizes. Winners will be notified by telephone.

A drop box is located in the BRC lobby or you may mail your project to Blue Ridge Communications (Attn: Cindy Mellinger), P.O. Box 150, Ephrata, PA 17522-0150.

Deadline to return your card(s) to the Ephrata BRC office is February 7, 2019, so we may have time to mail and/or deliver the cards. Thank you for your support. Happy Valentine’s Day!
